McIntyre completed some of the hardest stretches thus far over the past few days riding in 105-degree heat from Needles to Barstow and Barstow to Redlands. Born in Burbank and raised in Santa Rosa, McIntyre, a 57-year-old State Farm Insurance employee for 36 years, said he has been married to his beloved wife, Liz, for 20 years. The couple reside in New Orleans where his wife is from originally. Their agreed upon highlight was stepping up to the edge of the Grand Canyon.
