Norbert Ruhmke, sector superintendent for the Providence Mountains Recreation Area, said significant repairs and improvements are still being made at the park, but while it's hard to say for certain, its opening is not far off. The third cavern, Winding Stair Cave, is not open to the public. The only sign of "civilization" from the park is the faint track of traffic crossing the valley on Interstate 40 about 20 miles away.
