There were 54 projects that were crowned San Bernardino County champions at the 28th annual History Day awards ceremony at Summit High School earlier this month - and a handful of them were submitted by students from High Desert schools. Close to 250 students competed in the event, which had a theme of "Taking a Stand in History," according to the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office. There competition was separated into three divisions, with both individual and group competitions: Elementary , Junior and Senior . "History Day gives students a chance to compete in a variety of categories on a historical theme," SBCSS said in a news release.
