With recorded gusts high as high as 60 mph, the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for the region and local law enforcement agencies and city officials urged residents to take precautions when outside. The winds, which were consistently between 40 and 50 mph and persisted until late into the evening, caused several power outages throughout the Victor Valley and Barstow areas and toppled multiple trees, with one family escaping injury after a tree smashed through the patio of their mobile home in Victorville.
