According to California Highway Patrol officials, at approximately 1:15 p.m. a 33-year-old man from Fontana was driving a military AM General HMMWV, or Humvee, north on Highway 247, just south of Barstow, while a 58-year-old man from Adelanto was driving a Kenworth tractor-trailer south on Highway 247. "Upon entering the shoulder, the driver steered the Humvee to the left and the Humvee began rotating in a counter-clockwise direction," CHP officials said.
