While residents seem to favor keeping current councilmen for another four years on the City Council, challengers had not given up hope late Tuesday. Unofficial election results from the San Bernardino County Elections Office at 10 p.m. Tuesday show Councilman and District 1 candidate Timothy Silva edging first-time challenger David Mendez, garnering almost 54 percent of the vote to Mendez's 46.14 percent.
