Freeway traffic services reported Interstate 15 was jammed from outside Las Vegas to Primm, Nev., where the southbound freeway narrow from three to two lanes. Cars were backed up slightly at Barstow, where the 15 and 40 freeways merge together, but drivers were met with smooth sailing on the rest of the 15, especially considering some of the "Barstow backups" reported in years past. The 101 Freeway from Santa Barbara to L.A., the 5 over the Grapevine and the 10 from the Coachella Valley had no traffic jams as of mid-afternoon.
