A Barstow man was pronounced dead at the San Bernardino County sheriff's High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on Wednesday, Aug. 22, after being discovered in his cell, not breathing. Scott Wesley Purdy, 49, was arrested Aug. 19, according to county jail records, which no longer list the arrest charges.
